AnyWAY.. I'm so busy I haven't blogged about anything relevant (ever, wait that's not true), in a while. It's because school ended, I have a few loose ends over there, and I'm leaving for Israel in two weeks!!!! I'm SO like running around in a BLUR>>>A BLUR... I just keep seeing my buddy Paige during her interview with me (in my documentary i say smugly) moving her arms fast enough to blur on camera. She was talking about how the world was moving on around her...and I just keep seeing her doing that in my head...

Anyway as a film person can I say I hate how much one has to pay for Final Cut Pro and how annoying it is that my school gives the finger to it's film/tv students by having a fleet of g5's and comm arts students can't have proper accounts on them?????? And people wonder why pirating of programs is such a problem... not that I think you should pirate all the programs you need, but if you need it and can't afford it...well that's most art students right?

oh and a twitter thought... I think Demi Moore is on there and she's following John Larroquette and I like the total Nightcourt lo(ser)ver I am I followed him...I'd love to know what these celebs are doing day-to-day in a fairly professional realm but I feel like I'm kinda being a creeper... and then again is it them at all or someone playing an elaborate RPG with my head??

Then I remember I was at a Catholic college... and realized poor Jane had some explaning to do... so this is what she did...THIS is why I love her.

On Friday, December 5, a friend of mine dared me to take the angel off the top of the Christmas tree in the cafeteria. Without hesitation, I thought it would be funny as well, so I did it. I am also a bit of a Grinch around the holidays because of sad family situations. So I took the angel. I had the intention of putting it back later in the week. It resided in my room for four days, and I decided to return it on Tuesday, but Kelly W* beat me to it. She came in my room and removed the angelic contraband; I felt guilty that I had not been able to put it back myself.
I was unaware that the angel meant so much to you, and that there were other elements involved in this situation other than humor. It was insensitive of me to follow through with this dare. I should have thought about the effort involved, with decorating the tree, as well as the cafeteria workers being questioned about the whole incident. I’m so sorry that it made you feel bad and stressed out. I promise you that I’m a generally good person, I just hate Christmas so much, and taking the angel made me laugh-- something that I don’t do so often around the holidays. This act was not directed to you or anyone in particular; it was an act of immaturity and mischievousness. I’m sorry for spilling my awful feelings for Christmas onto you and the staff. It was a bad choice, and I promise it won’t happen again.

Hello lords and ladies!!!!

It's New Years eve-day and I wanted to say a few things (when don't I want to saying something honestly,but anyway). I'm still not sure where this blog is going. I've had it for a while and there is still no clear direction, just kind of a splattering of what's rolling around in my head, but I think that's what I claimed it would be in the beginning...so maybe it's not such a bad thing.

I joined twitter, to further myself into the digital world (so I can never be free of its silicon embrace), and I love it, go try it, it's like crack or something...

And the world...how is the world doing on a day like today?

I think it's hopeful. Hopeful that this year will be better than what came before it. Less anger, less hate, more jobs, more food, more time, more love. Wouldn't that be nice?

so I was in the Golden Roach(diner) with Dani talking about how officially told my ex to get bent and listening to Dani's tale of ex-ly woe. At some point I mention that I'm not pretty, and I'm waiting for a guy to look past that which I lack and find me intelligent and eventually enjoy my company...And I'm about to keep talking and ask her if she wants start doing dance aerobics with me while on break and instead I don't make it to the dance aerobics question because Dani flips out. She's annoyed with me mentioning that I'm not pretty ( think a few of the guys at the other tables were staring as I said in a clear voice, "I'm not pretty, I get it.") And things of this nature. Dani proceeds to try to prod me with a fork. I doge her attempts with ease. But her eyes were twinged with sadness... while saying "stop talking about yourself that way... I'm going to tell your mom!"

And here is a question... Is it ok for a person to accept the truth of their lack of good looks?

It seems not, because people start to question your self-esteem, and get annoyed and tell you about how you can't compare yourself to movie star who are air brushed ...etc etc etc ... but there are some of us who know we can look our best and still not look as good as other everyday individuals. I take steps to look my personal best, or presentable, wear clothing that looks nice, and put together, but I'm not good looking... WHY IS THIS SUCH A PROBLEM FOR PEOPLE? I'm not saying I'm not good, or particularly ugly. Just not good looking. I'm smart, fun, funny, sweet, a hell of a baker, a nice singer, a great roadtrip buddy, a good tutor, and an ok babysitter. And I;m getting pretty good at the film thing, so I'm not without my options. And yet

People base what kind of relationship they want to have with other people on if they are attracted to them or not (It's a much more complicated process than that I know but it plays a huge factor in it of this I'm sure.). And I've single without any interest in a very long time so following my logic I'm not attractive to the many people I've met... I get this, I'm not thrilled about it but I get it. So why does this upset people who know me?

And another thing
When a guy is not interested they (and they have the balls to admit they want you to step back) always lamely offer "You're a nice girl, and very pretty but I'm not into you". I find that these words are empty. The person saying no is appeasing you by giving you that one shred of validation the women crave... "You're pretty"

We are so much more than pretty or not pretty ... like men are more than good looking or not good looking... Why do we like to focus on this so much?

I don't get that... I never have... I mean sure I've found people attractive, but I try to find out more than I like the way you look in that shirt.

So I got to college about two weeks ago and Now it seems I've lost touch with current events, pop culture and all the things college students are supposed to know (it's coded into their DNA from what the pop culture gods on TV say). So I have very little to write about in the blogger sense. So I saw shoot 'em up Sunday night (I ditched the VMA's because there wasn't enough stuff to laugh at.)It was pretty impressive in the action scenes...actually I loved though whole thing. I would call it Grindhouse-esque except not as smart...but cheeky, and dirty, and sooo very much fun.

I was reading someone's survey about how we view crime drama shows and how we respond to women being abused in real life and it was pretty disturbing, at least for me it was and i started to think about what the crime drama shows focus on and it seems women get raped but instead of it being just rape it's a twist on she was with him and she was stalking him and it was actually just rough sex or something entertaining though vilifying (which is NOT always the case there are plenty of episodes of all those shows where they show the women as a victim and it's not her fault etc...but then she's just a victim dead or alive with very little say in her own trial). So when I opened my Women's America history text (edited by Kerber)and found a section of her introduction where she hits on ideas of sexuality and social gender construct and how in the ninetieth century "Sensuality was attached to poor or "darker" women who by definition "invited" mens advances." (Introduction pg 10)...It makes me wonder how technology can change, as can our clothing but do we ever really change our mindset?

Ok so that just popped up in my head and now I'm getting distracted by other things...so more on TV and social ideals later!

On the wings of eagles...I can't even look away. What the hell is this...I just watched Mr. Evil himself Jerry Falwell endorse this...Help the needy Jews and give 350 and save 1 Jew from Russia or Ethiopia...Pat Boone, Pat Robertson, and Benjamin Netanyahu, and about five Rabbis just confirmed this is where you all need to be giving your money.

They quote scripture and show lots of sad footage...I feel like they are trying to brainwash us..this was definitely a few years ago...This is soooo insane...700 for a couple and 1400 for a family of four...Ok the music is bizarre, and I feel like I'm getting tricked in some way.

Life is pretty strange...In one or two parts of my life things are shaky and rather dodgy but the rest of it is so wonderful. My new obsession, or is it old? Considering I've loved a lot of this stuff since I was in the womb, I just didn't have a proper name for it...

So t's kind of a subculture I didn't even know existed until o-say, a few days ago...
how crazy is that?

I say subculture because they even have their own wiki page (click wiki for wikipedia's steampunk page). It's all so fascinating and new...Something I can really explore and find connections to in mainstream, well everything (I was going to say film but then I realized I've seen steampunk ideas/references/connections in all sorts of mainstream stuff).

There is such an optimism that seams to go along with it, and a curiousity, not to mention some pretty plush looking modds.

has interesting steampunk connections, set mostly in London there is a mixing of magic and invention, science and folklore. Victorian era London full of misfits (furry pick-pockets, mysterious maidens, sewer dwelling scientists etc. etc...wow maybe I need to cut back on the coffee.

Also the movie waitress...Here's my review : Waitress Staring Keri Russell and Cult favorite Nathan Fillion. This movie is quirky and off-beat with a feeling of joy that grows throughout the movie. The film is shot beautifully and with a deep commitment to telling a story worth remembering. As I laughed, and chuckled my way through this film I reflected on what I do when I'm stressed, it's not all that different than creating pies in your head. Which makes me think of the interesting idea of making even something as domestic as pie making is art, which for me reinforced that film doesn't always make art, sometimes it just illuminates life which is art all in itself.

today I find myself elated, joyous even, and for the silliest of reasons. Guy cancelled on me. This boy-guy chose some other girl over me, not that I blame him, i'm kinda bitchy. But back to me... Now after him bailing on me, I'm exuberant and really amped, because I don't have to kiss him ever again (or count ceiling tiles while he finishes). You may ask why didn't end this thing sooner if I didn't like him, well you try being single at an all girls school where every girl has someone,(or several someones). Despite my strength and ability to find worth in other things (than relationships), my resolve got a little weak. And sure on some level I might have thought less of him for not being as smart as me(god that's stuck up), but he wanted me...or at least he did for about a second.
I guess I'm more old fashioned than I thought. Hooking up with someone is not nearly as fun as being in a relationship. That statement even to me sounds so "square" but in truth I don't think so. Because if you like the person, you get attached and then one wants more and the other doesn't or you don't have anything in common with the other person and you feel nothing for them.
It's shite all the way around I think...But I'll tell you later if that is true or not...

In other news I have pictures of my Dog!!! that I would show you but my computer is having issues...someing about ED for computers or whatever...

Ok so remember that whole LaRouche thing? Mommy didn't want me going...also it was a bit of a pain in the ass to get to Penn station from my house, which is where some random dude would have picked me up...Long story short I didn't go and I don't get into cars with people I don't know unless it's for sex.

All right so Friday is upon me and I'm not totally sure what to do with my day
(because I'm not cleaning the swamp, at least not tomorrow. ), I kinda just wanna waste thirty bux and watch about three movies in a row (hell I might even be able to get four films in if I see a few before 6pm)...I love movie theaters and I feel despite their vast over priced ness, I still want to see new films...especially because there are no good werewolf films at Blockbuster (damn it all).

On the twenty sixth of this month a film called Blood & Chocolate this may ruin my existance considering I love the book and the movie looks nothing like it...

So today I will be going to a meeting for LaRouche supporters...I'm not sure how I feel about him just yet, I think there maybe merit to his theories but I'll tell you tomorrow the inside info...or at least anything worth parroting back.

Despite the fact I will have to get up early, to get to the bus to Penn Station where someone will take me to the meeting, I'm doing this. I cannot be a vocal liberal (and a good American) without going to this meeting and making up my own mind. I have to be there to hear what people are saying, I have to research, and review and only then can I say what I think. Because anything else is just me talking out of my ass and as large as it is, it does not have it's own thought process and as such is not an interesting conversation partner.

Also there is a Myspace "My state of the union" I think I will enter, I will post and I will need someone to vote for me...so when I upload I'll notify y'all and maybe I'll be heard...

So the Gristmill, a cafe I go to, (I would never say frequent because despite my frequency of my visitation there are huge gaps of time in between my visits.) got lucky enough to have Zenny play Friday. They played really well despite their lack of seriousness or practice. I took a lot of pictures from their set so when I post them I'll put the link here

I slept till four in the afternoon Friday. My only defense was I was trying to organize my music files till six that morning...Mother was less than impressed. And guess rightly so considering I have to clean the swap and choose a meal plan (my ass is the size of Rhode Island...).

Garage Band is such a fascinating program...If you don't have a mac I'm not sure if you would know it. If you know sonic foundry it's like that but Mac so of course spiffy looking but I'm not sure which one is better considering i have nooooo gift for music alteration/Manipulation. Of course practice can help solve that problem but I have other things to do like finish mincing over my little script and send it to my "star", that is if he agrees. Gosh I wonder if how much I'm going to pay him. I have very little cash in the first place but I have enough to make 20-15 min film (at least I hope I do.)

Today is the first day of my blog... now begins the quest for online validation (joy). Tonight, on the eve of a very simple day I start writing this blog. I wonder if this is a wise decision for me, though it's neither life threatening nor life affirming, so I will have to say no matter what it is, it is begin.

This film was shocking, brilliant, thought provoking and slightly horrorifying...It's a real comment on the sad and scary subject of online predators...the film's tagline should read soemthing like: is what would happen if a girl set a trap for an online predator?... And it speeds off from there. despite its length I was rather spellbound, with my eyes glued to the screen.
